A beautiful gallery space in the Georgian room. Brilliant exhibition this time from the artist El Anatsui, showing work created using metal from bottle tops. The huge and colourful sheets have the most amazing details and show a huge effort to create. Entrance is free, and there is on street parking very close by the university building.

First visit to Talbot Rice hidden away in the midst of Edinburgh university x Really enjoyed the exciting and unusual art work, installations and film, the beautiful gallery and staircases. Staff were warm and welcoming as we've found in all our art gallery visit this week. Be aware a lot of steep stairs but there is lift access for disabled visitors.

Stumbled across the university quad and then the gallery and was surprised to find such top quality art in a beautiful setting, and all for free. Would highly recommend especially as a few moments quiet respite during the fringe.

Being part of the historic Old College of the University of Edinburgh, Talbot Rice Gallery
provides a stunning backdrop for medium-scale exhibitions.

I like the layout and the sequence of the space that visitors would experience along the route, starting at a contemporary double-height white space lit by skylight, through several transitional area leading to the neoclassical vaulted hall. The journey itself is dramatic, and the exhibitions I saw were all benefited from the venue which has broadened the possibilities of representation.

@talbotricegallery was a blast. As my first #universitygallery experience in Scotland ?, I am amazed.
- beautiful building in the heart of Edinburgh, with clear and great navigation and orientation system
- great participative exhibitions (using UV lights and so)
- amazing welcome desk and very helpful and friendly student staff
- free entry and accessibility for wheelchair ? or mothers with trolley
- small but nice museum shop
- feedback forms
- reflection and relax rooms

The Talbot Rice Gallery is a free to enter public art gallery part of Edinburgh College of Art and is found in the University of Edinburgh‘s Old College.
The gallery exhibits new works by local and international solo artists exploring contemporary themes. Well worth taking time to view new programmes of works even for a short visit.
