A well maintained facility and multi era collection of the island painted, drawn and hand made object / art. Admission included with Fort Mackinaw daily pass, worth the visit. Meatly presented art. Enjoyed the self tour.

Has different areas for each exhibit. There are stairs to get to the bathroom and one elevator that connects only the main floor and upper exhibit.

The art was beautiful. The building was clean and well maintained. My family really enjoyed the unique pieces they could view. My children enjoyed the interactive display to explain the Native American bead work. Unfortunately due to the rude young man at the front desk, I would not recommend visiting this location!!! That is the ONLY reason I took stars away. He was unpleasant from the second we walked into the door. He really should find a job that requires less human interaction since his behavior was enough for us to not return. He definitely ruined the experience and made it very uncomfortable to fully enjoy the displays.

Nice little art museum. Included in the tickets to the fort. Lower stars because the young man at the desk was ill-mannered. No "Hello" when we entered, he didn't even look up just said "tickets" and handed them back. We walked about the exhibit, unfortunately no kid activities for the day. Upon leaving, I thanked the young man and he replied with a grunt. My husband said "have a nice evening" with another grunt as a response. The man at the desk actually rushed us out shutting the door on my husband's heel. He did apologize and he quickly shut the door. Discourteous, should probably look for a job that doesn't involve human interaction.

It was a cute and very informational museum. I would rate higher but when we entered the building the boy at the desk was very rude. It’s like we inconvenienced him. We walked around on the first floor and then my husband asked if we can go upstairs and the boy said in a not so nice tone yes. Like we are idiots for asking. We came back downstairs to leave he asked if anyone else is upstairs I answered him and he opened the door and I told him hope he has a better day and that’s when we got the door slammed right behind us. This is not how you should treat people.

This wonderful little art museum is a must-see for us every time we're on the island. They have a stunning permanent collection coupled with a selection of current local artists that rotates annually, if not sooner. See Mackinac through the eyes of artists, past and present—you'll leave a richer person for it.

Should post no dogs allowed on sign or advertising and on door. I was so embarrassed to walk up the huge staircase then barely open the door and then to be rejected with my very small dog! I have a service animal and the attendant asked her peer if I should show papers! Know ADA REGULATIONS! Very upsetting situation. I turned around and am never going back.

Much better than we expected - Interesting paintings, photos, and representations of Mackinac Island; interesting historical material; great art work upstairs. Handicap accessibility, including interior elevator, is very much appreciated, and entrance fee was free as part Grand Hotel package. Historical interpreter at front desk was very friendly and pleasant.
